Roads
The Roads series (1999) focused on landscape as a metaphor for memory and location. Using re-worked video stills of a single journey, these are painted versions of one personal road, exploring an interest in the fluctuating and elusive nature of transplantation. I had recently discovered Derrida’s concept of the ‘undecidable’, something that appears to belong to both, yet ultimately not belonging to either.
